Hello
I’m Heidi Christine, U.S. CEO of Sparkle Africa, and I’ve been called to ignite hope, healing, and transformation across Africa and beyond. What began as one helping hand in 2015 has grown into a movement of impact—47,056+ pads distributed, 72,540+ meals served, 572+ blankets and 712+ toys given—touching thousands of lives with dignity, nourishment, and opportunity.
At Sparkle Africa, we reach communities through our Five Fingers of Impact: Water, Education, Healthcare, Women’s Dignity, and Food & Humanitarian Aid. Each finger represents a vital pathway to change—together forming a hand that lifts families, strengthens communities, and restores hope.
Every day, I see the power of compassion to awaken potential, inspire confidence, and spark lasting transformation. When we serve with love and lead with conviction, the ripple effects reach generations.
Join us in extending the Helping Hand—because every life touched is a story rewritten, and every community lifted is a future renewed.
Welcome to Sparkle Africa
In 2015, one simple act of compassion became an outstretched hand.
What began as the Founder Hendrik Strauss’ personal response to human suffering has grown into a movement of hope reaching communities across Africa. Where others saw overwhelming need, he saw opportunity — an opportunity to extend a Helping Hand and invite others to do the same.
From that first blanket drive to years of consistent presence on the ground, Sparkle Africa was built on a powerful calling: to restore dignity, awaken hope, and create real opportunity for underserved communities. With integrity, humility, and deep local relationships, Hendrik laid a foundation of trust — ensuring every initiative responds to genuine needs with transparency, accountability, and heart.
Over the past decade, that single helping hand has grown stronger — now reaching through Five Fingers of Impact:
Water — Protecting water sources and delivering safe, sustainable access to clean water where life and health depend on it.
Education — Creating spaces for learning and growth in rural communities, opening doors of opportunity for future generations.
Healthcare — Developing pathways to bring essential medical care closer to families who need it most.
Women’s Dignity — Providing sanitary pads and sustainable menstrual health solutions so girls can stay in school and women can live with confidence and self-respect. Since 2015, 47,056+ pads have been distributed, restoring dignity and removing barriers to education and daily life.
Food & Humanitarian Aid — Supplying meals and emergency relief when hunger and crisis cannot wait. To date, 72,540+ meals have been provided, 572+ blankets and 712+ toys distributed to orphaned and vulnerable children — each representing a life touched, hope restored, and strength renewed.
Each “finger” represents a distinct area of focus. Together, they form one strong, unified hand — lifting communities toward stability, empowerment, and long-term transformation.
In March 2025, Sparkle Africa entered an exciting new season of growth with the appointment of Heidi Christine as U.S. CEO. Her leadership strengthens U.S. partnerships, donor engagement, advocacy, and strategic development — expanding the reach of this Helping Hand across continents.
Today, Sparkle Africa stands as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States and a registered Section 18A Public Benefit Organization in South Africa — positioned for global collaboration and sustainable impact.
Ten years in, the vision remains bold and clear:
To transform communities through compassion, empowerment, and measurable impact — one life, one family, and one village at a time.
Welcome to the Helping Hand.
Welcome to hope in action.
